Simulating Actual Virtual Reality

I tried to learn the guitar once; ok to be honest it was twice. Did you know that it is really hard? My fingers really hurt and my hand began to cramp. As it turns out all I really wanted was something slightly more challenging than air guitar. Enter Guitar Hero! It could possibly be the greatest game on earth, and then they made Guitar Hero 2 and 3! Part rock concert, part video game it challenges your dexterity and rockability at the same time. It is not uncommon to throw up your devil horns while exclaiming “Thank you, San Diego!” to your empty room after a particularly insane rendition of Wolfmother’s Woman. Not that I have ever done this.

Songs available in the games include:
"I Wanna Be Sedated" - The Ramones
"No One Knows" - Queens of the Stone Age
"Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight" - Spinal Tap
"Heart-Shaped Box" – Nirvana
"Cherry Pie" – Warrant
"Trogdor" - Strong Bad

(Oh you KNOW they had to put this gem in the bonus tracks!)

Crank it up to 11, hit your Star Power and rock on my friends!

Being Bad Never Sounded So Good

Amy Winehouse is bringing sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll back to… jazz? This mesmerizingly sultry voice comes from the pint sized, beehived bad ass with ever so soulful eyes. When asked about her many tattoos in an article for The Sun she stated "I like pin-up girls. I’m more of a boy than a girl. I’m not a lesbian, though — not before a Sambuca anyway." Whether you applaud or condemn any of her vices you can’t deny her absolute talent.

Her newest release, Back to Black is reported to be a chronicle of her time apart from now husband Blake. Having gone three times platinum in the UK, not surprising from her home turf but also reaching gold and platinum in countries around the world, she is a force to be reckoned with. Sales were fueled by critical acclaim from the singles Rehab, You Know I’m No Good and the title track Back to Black.

Amy does not hide her personal issues, but rather, in her own fuck all style, lays them out as is. I find that this true to life message and the 1950/1960’s throwback style, make this album nothing but irresistible. Just grab a gin & tonic and enjoy.

And Now A Word From Our Sponsors...

FortyTwo Magazine is dedicated to discussing the best in music, movies, art, literature and technology, the things that both entertain and inspire us all.

Of course, once we find something we will take it in, butcher it all to hell and spit out a stream of consciousness that will likely make sense to only us, but feel free to play along.

Don’t Panic,
